Excessive sweating can be due to a variety of reasons and the most common reason is genetic predisposition. Apart from that secondary causes like hyperthyroidism, diabetes, or neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease.

Hyperhidrosis can be classified into two main types:

  • Primary hyperhidrosis: Most people have a genetic inclination for hyperhidrosis and include 30-50% of the affected population*. In the majority of these patients, the cause is unknown.

  • Secondary hyperhidrosis: The condition may also arise due to an underlying health condition. The most common diseases causing excessive sweating include hyperthyroidism, obesity, adrenal gland disorders, and Parkinson’s disease.

Botox® used to treat Hyperhidrosis. The best treatment for secondary hyperhidrosis is to treat the underlying cause, which will normally reduce the excessive sweating, if that is not possible e.g. in Parkinson’s disease, Botox can be used to improve the excessive sweating.

Expert Practitioners

Our highly experienced practitioners at Flux Skin use Botox® the original and best-known toxin on the market with a large emphasis on safety. It is the result of years of studies and is used extensively in medicine. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) first cleared this particular brand of botulinum toxin in 1989, making it the first approved form of wrinkle injection in the world to target wrinkles and fine lines. These injections are a natural, purified protein that temporarily relaxes facial muscles causing fine lines and wrinkles. This injectable treatment is an established brand name and can treat conditions like hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), a wide jaw and others.

Technical Information

The UK has very few regulations around Botox injections and dermal fillers. There is an independent body that acts as a watchdog over those administering treatment. However, there are still many injectors out there that are sub-standard and use cheap products that are compromised or not safe.

Botox ® is a branded form of botulinum toxin. Many mistake the brand as a general term for the treatment, which is simply not the case. For this very same reason, many practitioners falsely claim that they use the branded product.

Not only do you need to feel comfortable with your practitioner on a personal level, but you also need to make sure that you feel confident in their abilities, skills and knowledge. We always advise prospective patients to do their research and form educated decisions.
